This page is a basic, incomplete list of LDS Family History Center Films that I have already viewed or need to eventually view. The links under each film description here usually lead to a page with a list (from the IGI) of records found on that film for one specific surname.
On this page are:
NUEVO LEON: General Teran, Linares, Montemorelos.
I plan to include:
COAHUILA: Monclova, Saltillo
NUEVO LEON: Cadereyta-Jimenez, Lampazos, Monterrey
TAMAULIPAS: Burgos, China, Matamoros, Reynosa
GENERAL TERAN, NUEVO LEON, MEXICO
Records on these films are from the church of Nuestra Señora De La Soledad in the city of General Terán, which was originally known as Valle de la Mota. References in records on the film to “Mota” are calling General Terán by its earlier name.
Baptism records for Gral. Teran begin in about 1770. The LDS does not have marriage records for the town before 1809. Whether they are exist at all, or were lost or never recorded, I do not know. However, the town is very close to Montemorelos, and residents often married there, or there are references to family relationships in those records.
General Teran Baptisms, 1799-1872
Film # 1389162, Batch # C646441
Although the “official” start date for this film given in IGI listings is 1799, there are many records on it from as early as 1773, and the Family History Library Catalog lists the beginning date as 1770. Worth noting is that for a few years between aproximately 1810 to 1812, many, but not all, baptism records also included the names of grandparents.
• Serna – includes all children baptised with the Serna surname from 1770 to 1830 only
LINARES, NUEVO LEON, MEXICO
These records are for the chuch of San Felipe, also known as San Phelipe, in the city of Linares, which was originally known as La Villa de San Felipe de Linares.
Baptism records begin in 1712, the year the town was founded, with a ten year gap from 1718 to 1728. Marriage records begin in 1728.
MONTEMORELOS, NUEVO LEON, MEXICO
Records on these films are from the church of San Mateo del Pilón — usually known simply as San Mateo — in the city of Montemorelos, which was originally known as El Valle de San Mateo del Pilón, or Valle del Pilón. References in records on the film to “Pilón” are calling Montemorelos by its earlier name.
Baptism records begin in 1713. Marriage records begin in 1712 and seem to be relatively complete, though not always legible. Very early records do not record parents, nor are they recorded during certain periods in the 1760s and 1770s.
